Hampshire is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Hampshire follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

If you love animals do not visit this place. I walked into the “barn” and had to walk out as I almost burst into tears. There were three baby pigs all shaking. 20 baby goats - all emaciated. A 20 gallon storage container with 20 chicks crammed in and another with 12 ducklings. About 10 rabbits living in cages barely big enough for them. A large sheep slamming against the pen trying to get out. A baby cow crammed into the corner. I saw no food or water. I actually googled to see if there had been animal cruelty charges filed against this place and was surprised to see there weren’t. I’m ashamed I gave them $10.

Ok so my 4 y/o had a GREAT time, but as an animal lover, the care for the animals leaves much to be desired. We went to hold the baby animals since my kid has only recently gotten the courage to pet animals. The facility itself is an old barn, but there are stray nails, unfinished wood benches and hay bales for sitting and it’s a free for all. There are two old farmers who run the menagerie, and they are nice, but we entered and someone was saying that a kid dropped a baby goat. Their attitude was “that happens”. Chicks, baby ducks, baby goats, and bunnies are just there for the taking. There’s no employees helping - the kids and adults just pick up the animals and walk around. It was also super crowded and hard to maneuver around. The bunnies had super long nails that scratched everyone and there was no instruction on how to hold the chicks or ducks. Only when there was a kid holding a chick on its back did the farmer say “don’t do that”. This place also rents out chicks and ducks. I hope they give out good care instructions… Seriously though, this place was janky at best and zero organization.

I had a wonderful experience at Pioneer Farm! They have such fresh vegetables, eggs, and meat—it’s clear everything is cared for with love and attention. Visiting the farm reminded me of my childhood, bringing back those simple and happy memories of being close to nature. It’s such a peaceful and welcoming place, and I truly appreciate the authenticity and warmth they offer. Highly recommend a visit!

Enjoy Pioneer Farm is a must-visit commodity if you are in the Chicago area!! It is about an hour outside of Chicago and definitely worth the drive! My family of 5 visited this place and did not know what to expect. We showed up and the place looked a little cluttered and unorganized but they were far from it. The owner and staff were excellent at providing customer service. The price to pet and hold the ducks, chicks, goats, etc. was $6 per person for the entire visit. The bathroom was an outhouse with a working toilet! The sink was outside with soap on a rope which was a site to see! There was hand sanitizer in multiple locations for customer use. The animals were in the red barn and included a pig, cow, rooster, sheep, lamb, baby ducks, baby chicks, baby goats, and bunnies. The $6 was an excellent price for the service we paid for. I was even able to walk one of their cows around the property for a bit!! The farm also offered “rent a baby chick or duck” option where families can borrow supplies and purchase food to care for the animal for a selected time period. This animal petting farm is only offered in the summer. In the fall I will be sure to come back for their produce and
